Planning Related Product Displays
Related products can be displayed together when the connection helps customers understand their use. The relationship should be practical rather than simply filling spare space.
Practical Considerations
Choose items that solve adjacent needs and keep each price and contents statement clear. Related display does not mean the items are automatically compatible or included together.
Suggested Procedure
- State the customer task the display serves.
- Select a small number of relevant products.
- Check dimensions or compatibility where the connection depends on fit.
Illustrative Example
Index cards can sit beside a card box, but the box should fit the card size shown. Otherwise the display creates a problem rather than making shopping easier.
Points to Check
Avoid presenting a group as a bundle unless the store has deliberately created and priced one. Keep separate items identifiable.
Working Record
Use the merchandise display plan to put the relevant information in one place. You can complete it in your browser, save a text copy or print a blank form for use in the store. Entries are not submitted to NoveltyPlex.
